The Highlands Certification Process is a sophisticated training program designed to enable qualified applicants to serve as Affiliates of the Highlands Company. The Highlands Company is the developer, owner and publisher of the gold standard among tools for the measurement and assessment of individual abilities – The Highlands Ability Battery (THAB). Originally available only in a Paper and Pencil version, the Battery is now also administered on an interactive CD and will soon be available on-line. The Company utilizes THAB to provide individuals with a reliable measure of their innate abilities. This helps them in turn to make maximum utilization of their abilities in their lives, careers and educational choices.
Following certification, a Highlands Affiliate is authorized to purchase the Highlands Battery and to administer it and the resulting feedback to clients. Most Highlands Affiliates find that certification in the Highlands Battery opens the door to a new and valuable individual assessment tool which facilitates coaching, counseling and consultation
To qualify for training and certification, applicants are required to have an appropriate level of education and experience in the fields of coaching, consulting, psychology, counseling, corporate consultation, career consultation, educational consultation, and human resources, or in related fields.
Training in the Highlands Process is provided by a Highlands representative with years of experience in administering the Highlands CD and feedback and in conducting the Highlands Certification Program.
The Highlands training program consists of 1) your own participation in the Highlands Ability Battery and a live feedback; and 2) eight group participatory telephone calls. Each call is approximately 1.5 - 2 hours long. At least one of the eight calls includes instruction on marketing the Battery and feedback. Each trainee is required to prepare two practice feedback reports and to conduct two practice feedback conferences. The feedback conferences are monitored by the Highlands staff.
The cost of training as a Highlands Affiliate is $1,750.
Individual Feedback
Traditionally, Affiliates were trained only in individual feedback. The Highlands Affiliates Training Program has recently been expanded to include training in group feedback.
Affiliates whose training was limited to individual feedback may enroll to participate in group feedback sessions which are now integrated into the general Affiliates Training Program. The cost of this supplementary training to current Affiliates is $165. Training will be conducted during one 2-hour session. Affiliates may call or e-mail to inquire about this supplementary training, which is recommended for all Affiliates.
Group Feedback
New applicants who wish to qualify for training to become Highlands Affiliates are now required to complete training in both individual feedback and group feedback. Individual feedback is a two-hour one-to-one feedback during which the Affiliate interprets an individual’s scores on the Highlands Ability Battery. Group feedback involves the same process of interpretation and explanation by a Highlands Affiliate, but in the context of a group of individuals, only some of whom may have received individual feedback.
Highlands believes that no one is capable of conducting group feedback without first having completed extensive training in individual feedback. For this reason, the present Affiliates Training Program consists first of several sessions in basic individual feedback before training in group feedback begins.
